THE SCHOOL PASCO has over 200 pupils aged 3-13 and is expanding. At present there are 2 kindergarten and 5 primary classes. Teaching is in English. Low school fees and a number of sponsored places means that PASCO is able to support children from poorer families.
THE LOCATION The school is in the small rural township of TWIFO MAMPONG, Central Region, Ghana - about 60km north of Cape Coast. This is a lush green area producing palm oil and cocoa. Most local people are small scale farmers and traders.
VOLUNTARY SKILLS NEEDED
- Experienced/qualified teachers of English to support the work of local teachers and offer remedial support to pupils. Appropriate qualifications would include B.Ed., PGC, TEFL.
- Experienced/qualified teachers of basic IT skills to support local teachers in the development and delivery of training programmes and help to manage software systems. Appropriate qualifications - IBT 2/3, ECDL, City & Guilds Teaching Cert.
- Also versatility, flexibility and a sense of humour!
AGE GROUP 20+, Couples welcomed as long as both partners have skills to offer the school.LENGTH OF STAY - Minimum of 1 term

ACCOMODATION Simple, comfortable rooms rented in the town with shared bucket showers and sit-on-long-drop toilets (i.e. no squatting!). Electricity usually available.
FOOD Can be provided daily by your host or you can buy and cook your own.
COSTS These figures are estimates as at August 2005 - please check for up to date information.
- Total cost for 3 months including project fee, accommodation, pick uo from Accra, three meals a day, administration and personal support. £ 650
- A non refundable deposit of £ 200 is payable on acceptance to secure a place at the school. The balance to be paid on arrival in US Dollars Cash.
- N.B. - You will also need to budget for the costs of visas, medication, insurance, airfare, return from Mampong to Accra airport etc. plus any other travelling you may wish to do to other areas of Ghana.
